It is called „Astaxanthin“. A xanthophyll carotenoid, is a secondary metabolite naturally synthesized by a number of bacteria, microalgae, and yeasts.

For comparison, other antioxidants can handle just 1 to 2 free radicals at a time. What is more important here is that astaxanthin will not turn to pro-oxidant in this process, unlike other antioxidants.

Many studies showed that it can lower triglyceride levels and help heart muscle to regenerate. than coenzyme Q10. Astaxanthin was also about 75 times greater than alpha lipoic acid, about 550 times greater than green tea catechins and about 6000 times greater than Vitamin C.

No harmful side effects have been noted in any of the safety studies done on astaxanthin. The only side effect is an orange coloring of the skin at very high dosages, which is around 50 mg per day. Wild Pacific salmon, especially sockeye salmon, has the highest astaxanthin content. However you'd have to eat about 6 ounces (165 grams) of salmon daily to get a 3.6 milligram daily dose. Studies conducted show that the best dose for noticeable results is 2 - 12 mg/day, depending on a certain condition.
Astaxanthin also comes in pure powder form and in capsules. The most important thing is that it comes in naturally occurring form, not synthetically produced.
